『壹』 關於杭州旅遊的介紹(英文版)

上有天堂,下有蘇杭」英語是： "Just as there is paradise in heaven, ther are Suzhou and Hangzhou on earth."

If you arrive by airplane, before the touchdown you must have already been pleasantly surprised to see a fascinating picture, in which the West Lake looks like a sparkling pearl imbedded in between a blue smudge of mountains and a metropolitan city, with the zigzagging Qiantang River floating by like a silver ribbon.

Yes, the West Lake has all along been extolled as a sparkling pearl. Legend has it that the lake used to be an auspicious pearl hewn into its sparkling shape by the Jade Dragon and the Golden Phoenix but it was later stolen by the Mother Queen of the West. When Jade Dragon and Golden Phoenix scrambled with the Mother Queen, this pearl accidentally fell onto a land that was known as Hangzhou.

This legend, which is certainly worlds apart from true history, sheds precious light on the fact that the West Lake is a treasure that the labouring people of Hangzhou have brought into shape through numerous generations of hard labour.

The mention of the Tale of the white Snake in the foregoing indicates that for those who know something about Chinese culture, the West Lake is something of a dream. Apart from its dream-like beauty, the West Lake is also associated with so many other dream-like tales, such as the well-known Butterfly Lovers, the Legends about Lord Ji, the Story about Li Huiniang, as well as legends about such famous men of letters as Ge Hong, Lin Hejing, and Wu Changshuo. Just as Yu Qiuyu, a well-known prose writer, has it, the West Lake is a " lake that belongs to culture".

My brief introction may give you some idea about the saying that the West Lake has so many beautiful thing to offer that you can simply not take them all in. What this tiny pictorial album presents is merely a corner of the West Lake through the eyes of Zhang Keqing, a photographer from Hangzhou. Zhang's perspective of the West Lake, no matter how limited, serves to mirror the three-dimensional beauty of the lake. Such beauty, if interpreted according to your imagination, can conjure up a perfect picture of the famed West Lake.

前言

《英語導游翻譯必讀》一書自1990年出版以來，在全國眾多的英語愛好者中，尤其是英語導游翻譯讀者中得到了普遍的歡迎和認同。該書不僅成為許多導游和翻譯人員長備案頭的業務工具書，而且書中豐富的內容則更多地被全國許多旅遊院校的老師們作為教材用於課堂教學及相關專業的英語培訓。因而，《英語導游翻譯必讀》一書積極的社會效益有目共睹。

英語口語要到濟南去參加考試，通過的分數比較低，好好准備沒有問題的，到旅遊局買導游詞是最明智的做法，不過不需要都背下來，可以做一些刪減，撿重要的背一背就好，因為太多了，考試加油~

Hupao Spring (Tiger Running Spring)

Hupao Spring is located six kilometers from Hangzhou city, at the foot of Daci (Great Compassion) Hill which stretches between the West Lake and the Qiantang River.

Legend goes that there used to be a temple and a monk named Xingkong once lived in it ring the Tang dynasty (618 - 907). Later, owing to lack of water, the monk had to plan to leave the temple. One night, he had a dream, in which an immortal told him two tigers would move a fountain here. As expected, in the next day, two mighty tigers from the Mt. Hengshan ran around the spot and g a hole which caused the spring to gush forth. Hence the name Hupao Spring (Tiger Running Spring).

While as a matter of fact, Hupao Spring forms as the result of underground water seeping through veins and cracks within quartz sandstone that will not be eroded by acid materials. Due to its low content of mineralized ingredients and high percentage of radon, a radioactive element, the spring water, tasting pure, sweet and cold, is an ideal beverage for health. What is more, the spring water has high surface tension. Put a coin into a bowl filled up to the rim, and the water rises three millimeters above the bowl edge, but it does not overflow.

The Liuyi Spring beside Yu's Mansion recorded the friendship between Ouyang Xiu and Su Dongpo. Liuyi is the literary name of Ouyang Xiu, a great Northern Song Dynasty Poet. His life consistes of Liuyi, namely, "six ones". In his book entitled "The Life of Retired Scholar Liuyi", he said that he would collect one thousand texts of inscriptions on ancient bronzes and stone tablets surviving from China's first three dynasties; collect one wan(ten thousand)copies of books; possess one Chinese zither; play one game of Chinese chess every day; drind one pot of wine usually; and have one old man as himself. There were all together six ones. To commemorate that respectable old friend whom he had nevermet, Su Dongpo named the spring Liuyi and later built a pavilion on it top which was rebuilt in 1984.
